Do you ever feel that despite all your training, you don’t quite nail the treatment of an injury? Do you ever wonder why some injuries don’t respond well to acupuncture or don’t resolve after a number of treatments? Do you find that some treatment protocols work short-term but then the pain recurs?
The successful, conclusive and lasting treatment of an injury, be it acute or chronic, is dependent on correct diagnosis of the Sinew Channel affected, and of the underlying systemic factors that allowed the injury to become chronic.
The Sinew or Tendinomuscular Channels bring Wei-defensive Qi to the entire surface of the body. These channels and Wei Qi were first mentioned in the classical texts, the Ling Shu, chapter 13, and Su Wen, chapter 43.
In clinic, treatment of the Sinews dramatically speeds recovery after injuries and surgeries, burns, breaks and fractures.
This class will be taught by New York based acupuncturist, Ann Cecil-Sterman, a renowned Classical Chinese Medicine teacher and author of the widely acclaimed books, Advanced Acupuncture: A Clinic Manual, The Art of Pulse Diagnosis, and Tongue Diagnosis: Visible Signs of Pathology, required textbooks in many U.S. schools.
The first two days will include detailed Sinew Channel theory and many live patient treatment demonstrations. All live attendees are invited to attend a third bonus day, included in the price—a full day of live treatments where Ann will work with the entire complement channel system: Sinews, Luo, Divergent and Eight Extraordinary Channels.
(Remote registrants and live attendees will also receive lifetime access to the recording of the third bonus day).
Practitioners will leave feeling confident in the treatment of pain and musculoskeletal conditions, able to understand how to achieve seemingly miraculous, staggering results in the clinic. You will also leave knowing how to use the Sinews to treat mood disorders and lingering feelings that have no specific emotional origin.
Practitioners will:
· Learn the theory of Sinew Channels.
· Learn how to correctly diagnose the affected Sinew Channel
(which is not always related to the location of the initial injury)
· Learn protocols to successfully treat the Sinews.
· Observe live case studies over the three days.
After the class, with study and practice, practitioners will understand how to treat reliably the following conditions:
· Pathogenic factors trapped in the musculoskeletal level resulting in pain, stiffness, tightness, weakness, numbness, and neuropathy
· Allergies
· Digestive issues
· Mood Disorders
· Hypersensitivity to weather and temperature
· New and old scars from surgery or burns

The Sinew channels have an intelligence that is not of the mind. This class will be an opportunity to explore how the Sinews are able to hold the body in a state of defence for hours or decades and also learn how to skillfully and compassionately invite that defence to yield. Bonus Day (August 7th): The third day consists of back-to-back live patient treatments where Ann will work with the entire complement channel system (sinews, luo, divergent, and eight extraordinary channels). Melbourne Central Station is one block away from the venue. You can take any train in Melbourne heading toward Flinders Station, then, there are two options once you arrive. The first is to get off and jump on the city loop, which will take you directly to Melbourne Central Station, OR, get off at Flinders Station and take any tram heading north along Swanston Street; get off at Lonsdale Street/State Library.
It is recommended that you find the closest train station to your accommodation, park your car there, and take the train (or tram) into the city. Google Maps is excellent at planning trips–simply type in your location, and destination as 210 Lonsdale St, Melbourne.
What should I bring?
Warm clothing: The venue has central heating, however, I recommend also bringing warm clothes.
Personal drink bottle/mug: Mugs, hot water and filtered water will be available. You're welcome to bring your drink bottles if you prefer.
Writing material: Please provide your own notebooks and writing material
Personal belongings: There will be a designated space for any personal belongings, however, due to the large number of participants, it is recommended you leave all valuable or large items at home. We cannot accept any responsibility for lost items.

No. It is, however, strongly recommended to have a copy of Ann’s book, ‘Advanced Acupuncture: A Clinic Manual,’ and to be familiar with organ pairs for each of the Six Levels (Tai Yang, Shao Yang, ect…).
